  Wine & Cheese Information Event: FFG Call Spin-off Fellowship



The Wine & Cheese information event for the second call of the FFG Call Spin-off Fellowship will take place on May 2nd at the Research Services (Berggasse 7, Seminar room 2), from 17:30 to 19:00.

The Spin-off Fellowship program is intended to support researchers (individuals or teams), including those from the humanities, social and cultural sciences, to further develop early-stage technologies, research results, etc. and build a business strategy, with the aim of starting a spin-off company. The funding period is between 12 and 18 months. The funded Fellows are 100% employed by the University of Vienna for the duration of the grant. They must have at least a BA and a professor or group leader must provide in-kind mentoring and support for the project.

Basic information:

Funding: min. 100,000 €, max. 500,000 € (Personnel, material and training costs)

Application Deadline: 19.7.2018

Duration: 12-18 months

  Call: TechHub #3 – From Technology to Business



The call for applications for the TechHub #3 is now open until April 3rd 2018. The TechHub #3 is a free offer to researchers that aims to close the commercialization gap, supporting applicants in guiding their research strategies so as to match market needs.

During two workshops and a guided project phase, applicants will have the opportunity to analyze their technology from a user’s perspective, explore additional application fields and design their commercialization strategy.

  Startup Live Vienna #17, 13th – 15th April



The 2.5-day workshop aims to create a network of entrepreneurs, individuals who want to build a start-up and start-ups enthusiasts. During the different sessions, participants will team to develop projects, get mentoring and feedback from industry experts and successful entrepreneurs and finally pitch their projects in front of a jury, guests, investors & VIPs. The winner will be announced at the end of the event.

  Advanced Patent Searching Workshop – 24th April,
Austrian Patent Office



Participants of the previous WTZ Patent Searching workshop or equivalent training would have the opportunity to search their own technological questions.

After a short repetition of the Basics of patent searching workshop, the trainers will provide participants with information on patent search with Espacenet and the European Patent Register, hands-on examples on the computer and support for the search of participants’ research topics. Participants will be able to indicate their research topic during the registration process, which will be kept confidential.

The number of participants is limited to 12 people. The attendance of the course is restricted to members of any Viennese university. The lectures will be held in English if required.
